The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, is currently presiding over a meeting to review the army’s operations in the country.
The conference with Senior officers and field commanders at the Command Officers Mess Abuja will feature briefs on intelligence gotten by the army authorities, the successes and failings of Operations Lafiya Dole in the wake of the new Super Camp strategy to firm up the counter insurgency operations
The Army’s conference will also be evolving a security strategy for Bayelsa and Kogi elections.
Addressing the participant, the Chief of Army Staff said the security challenges in the country are the result of economic woes which are global in dimension.
The army chief urged troops to be professional in their relations with other security agents. Referring to the Ibi incident that resulted in the killing of IRT operatives and civilians, the army chief said soldiers found guilty are to be punished.
The Chief of Army Staff conference has gone into a closed session as at the time of filing this report.
