As university workers begin their five-day strike, women of Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State are marking the fifth day since they occupied a flow station.

Monday August 19th, 2019 made it fifth-day of the shut down of flow stations belonging to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company and NECONDE by women of the host communities of Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

While the facilities remain occupied, people of the host communities have raised an alarm of purported plans to use soldiers to forcefully evacuate the women.

When women from the host communities to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company NECONDE and NESTOIL shut down flow stations of the Joint Venture partners, they did not just halt activities of the oil companies, but also occupied the facilities.

Five days and counting, the women are still there but their kinsmen are raising an alarm.

Representatives of the host communities have expressed displeasure over what they call a refusal by the oil companies to come to the negotiating table.

The communities plead with federal government to compel soldiers to maintain professionalism while impasse lasts.
