The Nigeria Police Force Enugu Command have confirmed the kidnap of the traditional ruler of Obom-Agbogugu, Igwe Sunday Orji and his wife in Awgu Local government Area of the State.
The traditional ruler was reportedly kidnapped by gunmen Sunday evening around Ogbaku-Umuogbe end of the ever busy Enugu-Port-Harcourt expressway.
Police said identities of the culprits are yet be ascertained.
Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer Ebere Amaraizu who confirmed the report told TVC News that they have swung into action to rescue the monarch.
Amaraizu denied the reports making the rounds in the social media that the killers of Catholic Priest Rev. Fr. Paul Offu have been arrested.
He noted that the manhunt for the murderers have been intensified assuring that people involved will be brought to Justice soon.
The Police spokesperson says the three days ultimatum for Mop Up exercise, issued at the emergency state security council meeting last week would elapsed today, he also disclosed that the state intelligence and Operation Puff Adder Squad have been delegated to effect massive mop up of illegal small and lite fire arms in the hands of unauthorized persons .
It would be recalled that a Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Paul Offu was killed along Ihe-Agbudu Road Thursday, in same Awgu Local Government Area of the state, by yet to be identified gunmen.
Investigation revealed that the place is an isolated region with thick forest along Enugu Port Harcourt expressway.
