Adult Toy shop Assault: Court grants Senator Elisha Abbo N5m bail

Image result for Adult Toy shop Assault: Senator Abbo granted bail, case adjourned until July 22The Senator that assaulted a female attendant at an adult toy shop has been granted bail by a Magistrate Court sitting in Zuba, on the outskirts of Abuja.

Senator Elisha Abbo’s bail is in the sum of five million naira and two sureties in like sum who must have verifiable addresses within Abuja.

Senior Magistrate, Abdullahi Ilellah, adjourned the matter until the 22nd of July for hearing.

The lawmaker representing Adamawa north had pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of assault, despite formally apologizing to the victim, a day after the video went viral on social media.

Senator Abbo was arraigned on Monday on a one-count of assault which he pleaded not guilty. He was arraigned after a video of him assaulting a woman went viral.

Senator Abbo is in the eye of a storm for attacking and beating up a woman who tried to prevent him and others with him from assaulting another woman in a sex toy shop in Abuja.

The viral video of the assault sparked outrage with many Nigerians calling for his prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Senate has set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate the case. Six men and two women were chosen as members of the committee which will be headed by Senator Sam Egwu.
