It took the combined effort of the Bayelsa State Fire Service, concerned citizens and staff of Glory FM 97.1 to extinguish an early morning fire which gutted the studio, accounts office and a part of the transmission room of the Bayelsa State-owned Radio.
Ovieteme George reports that the staff of Glory FM 97.1 evacuating property from the office while their colleagues joined fire fighters and concerned citizens to fight the fire which started at about 7:40 in the morning, drawing officials of Government to the scene.
A breakfast show “Rise And Shine” was on the air when the presenter was alerted of a fire outbreak in the premises.
Although staff of Radio Bayelsa 97.1 FM may be downcast, with assurances from the state government, the wait may not be too long before repairs are effected on the building.
For now it is skeletal transmission as the inferno damaged one of their studios.
