Army to deploy technology in tackling banditry

The Army says it will start using video conferencing to communicate with soldiers fighting to end banditry in the northwest.

The General Officer Commanding the 8th Division of the force in Sokoto, spoke to journalists about this.

Many communities in Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto and parts of Kebbi states have been raided by bandits and several persons killed with properties worth millions of naira destroyed.

In Sokoto state, in the last one year, over one hundred and fifty persons have been killed and  over ten thousand persons displaced and several others fled to Neighbouring Niger Republic to seek refuge.

While briefing journalists, the General Officer Commanding the 8th Division Nigeria Army Sokoto said it is winning the war and restoring peace in many troubled communities across the North West region

The Army chief also  revealed that the military high command will soon deploy technology in the fight against bandits in the region

In Katsina , Zamfara and Sokoto states the bandits engage in cattle rustling  kidnap  for ransom, and village raids in which they kill, steal and destroy.
