The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State said it will appealed against Yola Federal High Court judgement which barred it from fielding a gubernatorial candidate for the forthcoming 2023 general election.

The party made its position known at a press conference in Yola, expressing confidence that it will not only reclaim its mandate but will win the gubernatorial election in the state in 2023.

The secretary of the party, Dr. Raymond Chidama who read the statement called for calm from the party supporters stressing that the party will not rest on its oars until justice is dissipated.

He said in the wake of the “harsh” court judgement, the party convened a stakeholders’ meeting with the state working committee, state executives, and local government chairmen of the party to chart a way forward, where it was agreed that the party should move to reclaim its mandate through constitutional means.

He also urged all the stakeholders especially the aspirants to remain faithful and law abiding and ensure the prevalence of peace and order in the party as it struggles to reclaim its mandate.

Justice Abdulaziz Anka of Federal High Court 1, in a landmark judgement yesterday declared the gubernatorial primaries of the main opposition party in the state null and void over the failure of the party to comply with party guidelines and constitutional provisions while conducting the primaries.

He warned Sen. Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani to stop parading herself as the gubernatorial candidate of the party and gave the party 14 days within which to appeal the judgement.
