Protesting communities in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State that shutdown the Utonana Flow Station which belongs to Chevron have rescinded.

It took the intervention of the Delta State Deputy  governor, Kingsley Otuaro, after a stakeholders’ meeting in Warri with members of the protesting communities and a delegation from Chevron

Correspondent Ikenna Amaechi reports that the shutdown of the flow station is the height of agitations by the Kokodiagbene, Makaraba, Egbema and Gbaramatu communities to draw the attention of the Multinational to address issues of environment degradation, provision of basic amenities amongst others that company has refused to take seriously.

But after a meeting among concerned parties, mediated by the Deputy governor of Delta state, a resolution was reached to end the stalemate.

Though yielding to the call of the Delta State government to leave the facility for operation to resume, the people gave the oil company deadline to meet their demands or they will return.

In another development, the deputy governor confirmed the explosion at the Forcados trunkline which was caused by a technical malfunction and led to several casualties.
