It’s Good Friday! It is a day set aside by Christians all over the world to commemorate the biggest and utmost sacrifice in the history of mankind…which is the sacrifice of God’s only begotten son on the cross of Calvary for the redemption of the world.
Good Friday is observed as the commemoration of the crucifixion of Jesus and His death at Calvary’s cross.
This day is a very big one in the Christian Holy book and the christian Calender, because it is a day Jesus was crucified to take away the sins of mankind.
Before His death, the worshipers of old, atoned for their sins by shedding the blood of animals, as burnt offerings to God.
After undergoing that traditional atonement, they would go back to the same old sins.
That made God in His disappointment and anger, destroy the world and spared only Noah and his family, whom he found guiltless, hoping the creation of a new world order, would translate into a sin-free world.
But that didn’t happen. Man kept on sinning against a Holy God, who was finding it, sometimes hard, to restrain his anger and vengeance against the wicked acts of man.
So according to the Bible, God took a decision He felt would be restrain Him from destroying the world, again.
He needed the shedding of the most innocent-the the blood of Jesus, to restrain him from destroying mankind again.
That decision which manifested through the betraying Kiss of Judas Iscariot , led to the crucifixion of Jesus on the day, now labelled , Good Friday.
It is the day of the biggest intervention of Christian History and the reason why Christians appreciate Good Friday.
Christians prepare for Easter Sunday, the day of the ressurection of Jesus, which is the big victory and spiritual passport to life everlasting.
