The commission once again gave this reassurance during a stakeholders meeting held in Port Harcourt.

Correspondent Uche Okoro reports that the meeting was organized by INEC ahead of resumption of collation and declaration of results from the March 9th elections in Rivers State and was attended by some political parties and their candidates, civil society, religious groups and security agencies.

There was an interaction session where these stakeholders stated their expectations from each other as INEC attempts once again to bring an election in this state to a conclusive end.

Concerns were also raised about what role the military will play in elections going forward.

Representatives of INEC promised to consider all views expressed, even though the commission has barely 48 hours to resuming collation and declaration of results.

Some Governorship candidates staged a walkout from the meeting indicating that not everyone was satisfied with the outcome. But INEC has appealed to every stakeholder to give peace a chance, this time.
