A state High Court in Yola has asked INEC to await its ruling on the supplementary elections earlier slated for Saturday.

The court adjourned to Tuesday, March 26 to alter the existing order restraining INEC from holding a rerun election earlier scheduled for this weekend.

Served with a motion to halt the planned rerun election, INEC filed a counter motion through its counsel arguing that exempting a political party logo from the ballot paper is a pre-election matter.

It argued that Movement for the Restoration of Defense and Democracy (MRDD), should rather approach Election tribunal not a regular court

The judge, having listened to both counsels sought more time to verify claims.

To the counsel of the MRDD, the court injunction is as important as the validation and extension of the interim order.

Counsel to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who earlier sought to join the INEC suit but later withdrew, says his arguments were in support of the INEC counsel, hoping the Tuesday’s ruling will be positive .

Present also at the court was the counsel to the PDP candidate, Umaru Fintiri who stated that the court adjournment might delay the process but expressed certain victory.

With this ruling, Adamawa residents have to wait a little longer for a final resolution of who becomes their next governor
