Thousands of young people welcomed Pope Francis to the opening ceremony of the Catholic Church’s World Youth Day in Panama City.
Flags from across the world could be seen in the crowd as young pilgrims danced along to the festivities.
Francis said the continent’s young people were demanding that their political leaders live honestly, transparently, simply, and “be opposed to all forms of corruption”.
