Residents of Egbeda Egga and Ekinrin-Adde communities in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State are counting their losses after a rainstorm destroyed more than 100 buildings in the area.
The disaster also affected worship centres, businesses and schools, with property worth millions of naira damaged.
Community stakeholders who spoke to TVC News described the impact of the rainstorm as severe, noting that the scale of destruction is beyond what victims and the communities can handle.

Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Ibrahim Haruna, has called on the Kogi State Government, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and other well-meaning individuals to assist the affected residents.
They say many victims have been rendered homeless and are currently taking shelter with neighbours, while appealing for support as the prevailing economic hardship has further worsened their situation.
