The Senator representing Ogun West at the National Assembly has given scholarship and bursary awards to more than 3,800 students of the state from different tertiary institutions across the country.
He also distributed Laptops to 700 secondary school students who have been trained in the ICT programmes.
Speaking during the presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries of the Programme held in Ilaro, the Senator said a sum of N200,000 would be given to each of the beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme, while N100,000 will be disbursed to each beneficiary in the bursary category.
The senator says he decided to initiate the scholarship and bursary awards to make quality education accessible to indigent brilliant students, adding that the education support scheme was also to support the Nigerian Education Loan fund scheme started by President Tinubu’s administration.
Still on education development and youth empowerment, the senator also distributed 700 laptops to secondary schools students who have been trained and equipped with ICT skills.
He says with the laptops, they will be able to advance their studies and compete favourably with their contemporaries across the world.
Community leaders and other Stakeholders in attendance commended the senator for his support for the education development of his people and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity.
