Hundreds of Ijaw elders and youths have staged a solidarity demonstration at the Independent National Electoral Commission’s headquarters in Abuja over the recent ward delineation exercise in the three local government areas that comprise the Warri Federal Constituency.
The protesting Ijaws from Gbaramatu, Egbema, Diebiri, and Isaba towns claimed they were in Abuja to praise INEC for the recent ward demarcation exercise in the Warri Federal Constituency, which they termed as diligent.
Protesters carried signs commending the electoral umpire for the ward delineation exercise stated that the commission performed its duty effectively in front of stakeholders and the public.

David Reje, spokesman for the Ijaw kingdoms, stated that INEC, as a body dedicated to the rule of law, had taken the appropriate step in implementing the Supreme Court’s decision that mandated the exercise.
The protesters were received by top INEC officials led by two National Commissioners, Professor Abdullahi Zuru and Mohammed Haruna.
Prof. Zuru thanked them for appreciating the efforts of the commission.
