The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General , Olufemi Oloyede emphasised the need for all personnel and officers to rise collectively and tackle kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities.

Mr Oloyede made this call while addressing soldiers during his maiden operational visit to the 32 Artillery Brigade, Owena Cantonment, Akure.

This was the first visit of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oloyede, to the 32 Artillery Brigade, Owena Cantonment, Akure.

Upon his arrival, his first major assignment was inspecting the guard of honour mounted by soldiers.

He also assessed the facilities at the 32 Artillery Brigade.

The Chief of Army Staff tasked military personnel with addressing the influx of criminals into the South-West region.

He was quick to add that the entire Nigerian populace is relying on the army to put an end to security challenges.

Mr Oloyede urged them to justify the substantial funds the Nigerian government is investing in tackling insecurity.

He also warned soldiers against turning Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) across the country into checkpoints for extorting Nigerians.
