Customs seize petrol worth N71.7M, other goods from smugglers in Adamawa

The Adamawa/Taraba Area Customs Command have seized contraband goods worth N71,760,930 on the verge of being smuggled out of the country through Adamawa bordering Cameroon community.

1,115 Jerry cans of 25 litres capacity each, 26 drums of 220 litres capacity each filled with petrol totaling 33,595 litres,200 bags of
foreign flour, 50Kg each, 57 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 50Kg each, 10 bales of second-hand clothing intended to be smuggled in to the
Republic of Cameroon were among items seized by men of the customs service in Adamawa state

3 vehicles used to convey some seized PMS were also confiscated.

 

 

The area comptroller of Customs in charge of Adamawa and Taraba states, Garba Bature, says the seizures are clear testaments to the unrelenting
and uncompromising efforts of operatives attached to his command.

He added that actions taken are in accordance with the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and the standard operating procedures as the proceeds
will be remitted into the federation account forthwith.

In August and September 2024, the Adamawa/Taraba Command’s enforcement unit witnessed significant seizures as they adopted new strategies making them beat smugglers in their games.
