Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State has presented a proposed budget of N498 billion for the 2025 fiscal year.

The budget, titled the “Budget of Sustainable Growth,” focuses heavily on capital projects aimed at fostering long-term economic development and infrastructure improvements across the state.

In the breakdown, capital expenditure takes a significant portion, with N328 billion—representing 66% of the total budget—allocated towards major development projects.

This capital-focused spending plan reflects the state’s strategic focus on infrastructure development, economic growth, and improving the living standards of its citizens.

Recurrent expenditure, comprising N170 billion or 34% of the budget, is allocated to support the ongoing operations of government institutions and the delivery of essential public services.

This section of the budget will cover salaries, maintenance costs, and other recurring financial needs necessary for the effective functioning of the government.

More details on specific allocations and targeted projects are expected to be released soon as the budget proposal moves through legislative review.

The 2025 budget proposal marks a crucial step for the Otu administration as it aims to consolidate economic growth and development efforts across Cross River State.
