Some gunmen have killed the Agbarho Divisional Police Officer after they laid ambush on the officers who were on an operation.
According to the Delta state Police Command Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright, the unfortunate incident occurred early hours of Monday morning when Two Divisional Police Officers attached to Agbarho and Orerokpe were carrying out an operation and the hoodlums laid ambush and shot at them, killing the DPO of Agbarho while his colleague sustained injuries.
Mr Edafe Bright confirmed that the injured officer is in stable condition at a hospital and that the police have launched a manhunt and are on the trail of the hoodlums who he promised will be apprehended.
In another development, there is a breach of security Onicha Olona community of Aniocha North local government area of Delta state as youths of the community went on rampage burning some structures and property.
According to the police, violence erupted when a community member was allegedly beaten to death by an suspected land grabber who the youths claimed forcefully took possession of the community land.
Some of the community leaders challenged this move which resulted to the violence that has led to the death of one person.
The police say three persons, who are alleged to have committed the crime have been apprehended as investigation is ongoing.
