119 Escape Death As Max Air Loses Tyres During Takeoff

NSIB Team To Visit Yola Following MAX Air Near Mishap

Max Air Boeing 737, with registration 5N-ADB and 119 passengers and six crew members on board, lost four tyres while taking off at the Yola airport on Sunday.

Before taking off from Yola Airport to Abuja, the aircraft’s first rear gear tyres burst, and the remaining two tyres also burst during the taxing off process.

However, no fatalities or injuries were recorded, according to a statement by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, Bimbo Oladeji.

This is the 3rd time Max Air is in the News for the Wrong reasons in the last One Year.

Recall that aSimilar occurrence happened on Sunday May 7 2023,when Max Air carring 143 passengers reportedly crash-landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja

The incident occurred after the plane’s tyre burst into flames,and it took the intervention of the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire-fighting Service (ARFFS) at the airport to put out the fire while the passengers were safely disembarked from the plane.

The runway was temporarily shut until the evacuation of the aircraft.

A report by the NSIB accused the airline of overwriting the Cockpit Voice Recorder of the serious incident that occurred on May 7, 2023, on landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
