Lagos Holds Awareness For Return Of Environmental Sanitation

Lagos State Government has held awareness and sensitisation programme on the reintroduction of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in the state.

Governor Babajide Sanwoolu made this known after
leading the tree planting exercise as part of the 2024 Lagos State Tree Planting Day on Sunday.

Governor Babajide Sanwoolu, his deputy Obafemi Hamzat, their wives as well as other top government officials held symbolic tree planting exercise at the Lagos house, Marina.

The motive is to use Tree planting as a vital investment in future to combat climate change most especial flooding in a coastal city of Lagos.

The target is to plant 20, 000 trees before next year.

From here, all roads lead to Lagos Island East local council development area.

The Campus Playground on Odunlami Street is filled with members of Community Development committees and associations.

Officials of environmental agencies are also present.

The Governor is kicking off his sensitisation and awareness programme on the reintroduction of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise from the Island.

Governor Sanwoolu frowned at attitudes of lagos Island residents for dumping refuse in drainages.

The Governor reeled out the importance of the cleaning exercise which used to take place from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the last Saturday of every month.
