The President, Nigerian Academy of Letters, Professor Sola Akinriade has warned against fake research output due to its dangerous effect on national development.
Professor Sola Akinrinade was speaking at the opening of a workshop in Osogbo.
It’s a two-day workshop put in place by the Osun State University in collaboration with the TETFUND and the Nigerian Academy of letters.
The workshop focuses on proposal writing and grantsmanship for early career scholars in humanities at the Osun State University.
Professor Sola Akinrinade frowned at the way some researchers cut corners to generate fake results as a result of lack of access to research grant.
He wants institutions to prevent people from engaging in false scholarship and data manufacturing.
Professor Sola Akinrinade also seeks quality appointment into university Governing Councils.
The participants are twenty-two and were selected from some federal, State and private Universities in Nigeria so as to be trained on how best to access grants both locally and internationally.
They believe research as a driver for progress both at the National and global scale should not be taken with levity.
