Ogun State Government has warned those erecting kiosk, shops and shanties on the right of way of major expressway to vacate or risk being evicted by the authorities.

The Commissioner for Physical planning and urban development in the state made this known after his team evicted some people with structures on the right of way of Sango-Ota-Owode-Idiroko road.

As the federal government approved the reconstruction of Sango-Ota-Owode-Idiroko road which links Nigeria to Benin Republic, Ogun State Government has informed those who built on the right of way of the road to vacate on time and warned those planning to erect kiosks or container by the side of the expressway to change their plans.

This was made known after the team of the state government visited Iyesi Ota to paste notice of eviction and mark spots where people have encroached on the right of wat of the major Expressway.

Speaking about the need for eviction of most people along the corridor, the Commissioner for physical planning and urban development in Ogun said the road has been approved for reconstruction but unfortunately, people have erected permanent structures on the right of way of the road.

The Commissioner used the opportunity to appeal to people to always check and confirm from the ministry if the place they are planning to erect their structures would be okay and not on the right of way of roads.

He laments the challenges they are facing with the traders who have decided to obstruct walkways and roadside, causing heavy traffic along Oju-Oore, Atan, Iyana Iyesi among others.

Aside from its main function , he said the ministry has been engaging in sensitization of residents on matters related to physical planning and urban development in order to avert future challenges.
