Authorities in Texas said that a shooting at a park on Saturday killed two people and injured six others, including two children.

The victims were shot shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday at a Juneteenth celebration at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, about 19 miles (30.5 kilometers) north of Austin.

During a press conference at the scene, Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks reported that a disagreement arose between two groups during the event’s concert, and someone then began firing.

The two victims who were pronounced dead at the scene were not involved in the altercation, Allen said.

The shooting occurred near a vendor area away from the stage set up for the concert, Allen said.

Police officers and fire department officials present at the event immediately began providing emergency medical care to many injured patients, who were then transferred to local hospitals, Allen added.

According to an Austin-Travis County EMS post on X, six persons were transported to nearby trauma centers, four of whom were adults and two of whom were children, with potentially critical injuries.

Police do not have a suspect in custody and investigators do not know how many shooters were involved. The investigation is ongoing, he said.
