The National Secondary School Education Commission is to rehabilitate fifty Secondary Schools across Nigeria to meet international Standards.

The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Doctor Iyela Ajayi stated this while on inspection of secondary school infrastructure and facilities in Osun State.

CAC high School Ilesa was the first to be inspected.

The infrastructural facilities there are in bad shape with the school having only thirteen teachers.

The situation is not different at Laro Grammar School in Osogbo which has only eight teachers.

The classrooms, library, laboratories among others also need adequate attention.

Mr. Ajayi said the outcome of the 2024 Jamb examination where 76 percent of candidates, scored below 200 is an indicator to the adverse trend in senior secondary Education in Nigeria

He said one school will be picked for rehabilitation in each of the States of the federation in the first phase of the intervention with a promise to ensure value for money.

The National Senior Secondary School Education Commission was established to reposition senior secondary education in Nigeria.
