Nigerian Custom Service Federal Operation, cross river /Akwaibom state command has impounded consignments of petroleum products, foreign rice and other items smuggled into the country with Duty Paid Value of about Eighty-Eight million, eight hundred and eighty five thousand and fixity one naira.
The Comptroller of Nigeria Customs service zone C command, Chukwudi Ogbonna disclosed this while briefing news men in calabar.
The Comptroller zone C command, while parading the intercepted items ,condemned the illegal activities.
He says this contravenes import and export provision as stipulated by the Nigeria customs services Act 2023..
The Comptroller advises the general public to embrace legitimate channels of carrying out business activities to avoid huge consequences as his command will not relent in its effort to rid the zone of all smuggling activities.
Items displayed includes 109 bags of 50kg foreign rice, criminally re-bagged with Made-in-Nigeria local bags, 20 drums of 250liters and 235kegs of 25 liters of premium motor sprit otherwise known as petrol making a total 10,875 liters, ,225 pieces of used tires, 19 bales of second hand clothings as well as a Fiat Bus.
The Nigeria Customs Service, zone C command comprises of 2 states CRS, free trade zone, and Akwaibom state within the south -south geopolitical zones.
