IGP Egbetokun says more digital equipment, competent personnel needed to achieve effective policing

In a bid to achieve effective policing system, the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has called for the deployment of more digital equipment and skilled digital personnel.

The Inspector General of Police made the call at a forum organised by the Nigeria Institute of Social and Economic Research in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

The need to address security challenges in Nigeria remains imperative as the country continues to rank among the 10 countries mostly impacted by crimes and violence globally.

In response to this pressing issue, the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research organised a workshop titled “Digital Policing and Crime Control in Nigeria.”

The workshop is aimed at exploring innovative technological solutions to security bottlenecks and chart way forward in combating crime effectively.

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo state, who represented the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, emphasized the necessity of investing more funds in digital tools and personnel training to effectively combating crime.

Chairman of the Police Service Commission, stated that Nigeria possesses the necessary technological infrastructure and only needs more advocacy to effectively utilize these resources.

Organisers of this seminar believe that to address crimes and insecurity in the country, the government must formulate and implement digital policies that will enhance police operations in the country.
