FG takes delivery of 72 Hilux vans, medical equipment from global fund

The Federal government has taken delivery of 72 Hilux Vans and several in medical equipment, donated by the global Fund to fight HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria, across the country, including the hard- to-reach communities of the Nigeria.

Senior Reporter, Jacqueline Ogoh was at the venue of the Oshodi Federal Central Medical Stores- venue of the handover ceremony.

 

 

Adequate facilities, medical equipment, and well-trained staff power vibrant health sectors, and to help Nigeria climb the ladder of proper service delivery, the non-governmental organization, The Global Fund, which is a major funding partner to Nigeria, has made 72 Hilux vans, each costing $2.8 million, five ambulances, and a variety of medical equipment for HIV and tuberculosis diagnosis across the country.

 

The Global Fund head of Grant management, Mark Edington says, Nigeria, a partner of over two decades, has proven to be a worthy of more support.

In 2023 alone, over 300 thousand cases of Tuberculosis were diagnosed in Nigeria.

In 2022, statistics put malaria diagnosis at 68 million, with at least, 2 million people living with HiV.

For the minister of state for Health, the current intervention by Global fund is very timely.

The medical equipment provided include 350 mobile digital Xray machines at the cost of 32.8 million dollars, mobile x-ray vans, chest x-ray machines and biological safety. cabinets.
