Tens of thousands of Yemenis gathered in a number of towns to hear their leaders condemn US and British raids on their country in response to Houthi militants’ attacks on Red Sea trade.

According to reports, the US and Britain carried out dozens of air strikes on Houthi military targets overnight, escalating a regional crisis sparked by Israel’s war in Gaza.

The Houthis, who control a large portion of Yemen, said they would target all ships traveling to Israel, which is more than 1,000 miles away, and they warned foreign shipping companies against using Israeli ports.

Meanwhile, after Israel launched its assault on Gaza on October 7 in response to an attack by the Hamas rulers in Gaza, the Houthis, who are aligned with Iran, started attacking shipping lanes and firing drones and missiles toward Israel.

Report says the Houthis are one of several groups in the Iran-aligned “Axis of Resistance” that have been taking aim at Israeli and US targets since their Palestinian ally Hamas killed more than 1,200 people in Israel on October 7 The groups hold the U.S., Israel’s closest ally, partly responsible for the crisis and the scope of Israel’s massive response.

Additionally, the Iraqi militia group Harakat al-Nujaba, which is also aligned with Iran, stated that American interests and countries allied with the US would not be safe from now on.

Protesters stamped on Israeli and American flags in Sanaa. According to Washington, US and allied forces have been attacked at least 130 times in Iraq and Syria since October 17, and the US has no plans to deploy more forces to the region, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said.
