Gov Lawal launches 2024 armed forces remembrance emblem, donates N5m to Legionnaires

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state has launched the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem with five Million Naira.The Governor pledged to support the legionnaires and the families of fallen heroes in Zamfara state.

At a brief launch of the emblem at the Government House in Gusau, Governor Lawal was decorated with the remembrance emblem by the Chairman of the Zamfara State Chapter of the Nigeria Legion, Aminu Ladan Mada

A press statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, says the government has supported the Nigerian Legion with an appeal fund of N5 million naira.

He adds that the State government is committed to extending support to the appeal fund, which is particularly important given the significance of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Dr. Lawal conveyed his resolve to support the Nigerian Legion, demonstrating his appreciation for the sacrifices made by fallen heroes.

He highlighted some of his government’s support for the Legion in Zamfara which includes recruiting over 50 legionnaires into the Community Protection Guards.

“We must appreciate the contribution of our brave troops in the fight against banditry, terrorism, and other forms of criminality across the country” Gov. Dauda Said.

“It is our collective responsibility to ensure improved welfare for the Nigerian Legion and families of the fallen heroes who have sacrificed their lives to provide and maintain peace in Nigeria” He added.

“Furthermore, we have enlisted 50 members of the Nigerian Legion to join the Community Protection Guards, a security unit that will supports security agencies in safeguarding and keeping peace in our state.” The Gov. Maintained.
