Osun State Government has denied intentional deductions from the five percent allocation of traditional rulers in the state.

The Government also promised to issue a white paper on some traditional stools whose occupants have not been recognized by the State Government since 2022.

For years, traditional rulers in the Country have been enjoying five percent of local Governments allocation in their domains including Osun State.

But in the last few months, there have been complaints by the traditional rulers, of deductions from the five percent allocation by various local Governments in the State

At a monthly meeting of the traditional rulers attended by the State Governor, the traditional rulers seek clarifications on the issue and also made some other requests.

But the governor said the deductions could be as a result of fluctuating allocations being received from the federal Government.

The state governor, Ademola Adeleke said what is received from the federal government as allocation varies and ‘we don’t have control over it’

“We have fought over it at NEC, that is affecting us. It is also what the federal government gives that we share. Sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down”. He stated.

The Governor assured that a white paper would be issued next week on the stools of Akirun of Ikirun, Aree of Iree, Owa of Otan-Ayegbaju among others whose occupants have not been recognized by the Government since 2022.

He also promised medical support for the traditional rulers as well as building of a befitting Secretariat for them within the State capital.

The Chairman, Council of Traditional rulers in the state and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi is hopeful that their requests would be looked into.

He solicited support of Nigerians for the administration of the President, Bola Tinubu.

The State Executive Council had on Monday approved the appointment of some traditional rulers.
