Defence Ministry Orders Deployment Of More Troops To Zamfara

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the Ministry of Defence has deployed additional Military troops to tackle insecurity in all troubled areas in Zamfara state.

The Minister of State, for Defence Bello Matawalle says the troops are ordered to take the fight to bandit enclaves instead of waiting to repel or go on reprisal.

The move according to him is in compliance with the directives given by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that peace be restored to all communities bedevilled by activities of armed bandits and kidnappers in the state.

The minister Stated this in an interview with newsmen.

Communities in Maru, Tsafe, Zurmi among others experienced bandits attack in the last few days which led to the death of many, others kidnapped and injured while several others fled their ancestral homes.

The troops according to the Minister of State for defence were deployed to strategic areas in Bukkuyyum, Maru, Kaura Namoda and Zurmi local government Councils among others.

Unspecified number of kidnapped victims including toddlers according to him were rescued in Northern Part of Zamfara while those who fled their communities are beginning to go back.

“I know all troubled areas in Zamfara so, I’ve given the correct direction of how the bandits can be dealt with” Matawalle Said.

” Our people in Zurmi, Maru and Other local government areas have suffered in the hands of bandits especially in the last few days as many were kidnapped, but thank God all those abducted were rescued including little children ” He added.

” We directed troops from Danmarke to block all bandit routes and launch attack on them, that’s when the people of karam village in between Zugu and Daki takwas were freed”.

The minister noted that welfare of troops at the battle field has been improved and settled to encourage them the quest for a more peaceful Zamfara.

“President Bola Tinubu’s administration is not taking the efforts of security agencies for granted, we are doing our best to complement their tireless efforts’ he said.

” Even the palliative given to Nigerians by te federal government, security agencies were among the first set of beneficiaries to show how committed this government is in addressing insecurity “.

Mr. Matawalle further enjoin residents of Zamfara to always support security operatives especially with useful information to defeat enemies of peace, Progress and Development.

Bello Matawalle was Zamfara state Governor between 2019 – 2023.
