The world health organisation has officially granted prequalification status to the NAFDAC’s central drug control laboratory in Yaba, Lagos state.

This landmark achievement is one out of very few laboratories in the world that have the apex status of the WHO prequalification status.

The journey to get the world health organisation’s pre-qualification status started since 2010 with the final touches put IN place by February this year.

Finally, the national agency for food and drug administration and control have achieved this feat through its renewed effort and commitment in the last four years to ensure the safety and quality of pharmaceutical products.

Today, the agency is announcing this milestone achievement granted by the WHO through its inspection team in September.

The prequalification status of NAFDAC’s central drug control laboratory in Yaba, lagos will among other things help to strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare system, by ensuring that Nigerians have access to high-quality healthcare products.

The main goal for the agency remains the drive to become a world listed authority in drug regulations by getting to the WHO’s maturity level 4 status and this is expected to be achievable within the next 1 to 2 years.
