The People of Ugborodo Community in Warri South West of Delta state are calling on Multinational oil companies operating in their area to follow strictly the latest directives of Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission on the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act.
After six months of dispute over the non-compliance of Multinational oil companies in Ugborodo host communities in the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission has resolved the issues after meeting in Abuja on 28th of November.
They have directed the host communities and the oil company to return the status quo prior to hostilities.
All parties asked to work in accordance to the constitution of the board of trustees, among other resolutions.
At this meeting of Ugborodo natives, meant to brief members of the community on the outcome, leaders advised the oil companies to pay attention to the resolution of the meeting.
Meanwhile according to the representatives of the oil company and leaders of the community a meeting of all parties will hold on Monday 11th December in Warri to chart a way forward to be chaired by the regulator.
