Chairman of the Senate’s Committee on Navy , Senator Olugbenga Daniel is advocating for more funds to be appropriated to the Nigerian Navy to increase its capabilities and effectiveness in securing Nigeria’s territorial Waters.
Senator Daniel gave the assurance when the Committee paid a working Visit to the Navy headquarters in Abuja .
The Senate’s Committee on Navy made its first working visit to the Naval Headquarters in Abuja.
The visit kick-started a tour of Naval formations in different parts of the country to familiarize with its mode of operation, receive Security briefings and devise possible solutions to the Challenges they Face.
Chairman of the Committee Olugbenga Daniel commends the Navy for its prompt response to National Security threats and ensuring the Country’s Water Ways are safe and Secured.
The Chairman however is concerned about the limited funds allocated to the Nigerian Navy which he says is grossly underfunded considering its enormous responsibility of protecting lives and properties
He has vowed to reverse the trend .
The Chief of Naval Staff expresses the willingness of the force to cooperate with the National Assembly to ensure that it delivers on its duties.
Senator Gbenga Daniel assures the Navy of more legislative support that will enhance its operations and is seeking the full cooperation of the Nigerian Navy. .
