WAEC honours distinction Candidates for 2022 WASSCE in Nigeria, to begin CBT in 2024

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says it will migrate from pen and paper to computer based tests for private candidates in the 2024 Examinations.

This was disclosed at the 61st Annual Meeting of the Nigeria National Committee of WAEC in Lafia, the Capital of Nasarawa State.

It’s the 61st General meeting of the Nigeria National Committee of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and this edition was held in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

The examination body honoured candidates who have done exceptionally well in the 2022 schools examination.

Winners of the National Distinction and Merit Award were announced as, Obidigbo Chioma Blessing of St. Pauls Academy, Plateau State who attended virtually, Inyang Valour Mbre and Olumide Atttah Ayomide received the prize for the first, second and third respectively.

Visually impaired candidates were recognised for the first time in the history of the award.

Silas Samuel Ajehson of Government College, Obi in Nasarawa State and Mbajiogu Precious Nzube of St. John of God Secondary School, Awka emerged as the winners for both male and female categories.

The prize is an inspiration for the recipients and it will spur them to greater achievements.

The council also announced its plans to transition the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination for private candidates from paper and pencil to computer based exams in 2024.

The National Distinction and Merit Award is an annual event instituted by WAEC to award candidates for their outstanding performances.
