Abia State Commissioner for Information and Culture says there is need for collaboration with security outfits in the state for adequate protection of lives and property of the citizens.

Mr Okey Kanu, stated this when he received the Commissioner of Police Kenechukwu Onwuemelie and his team who were on a courtesy visit to his office in Umuahia.

The Commissioner for Information pledged the commitment of his ministry to give the Police needed support and furnish them with useful information.

He wants residents to disregard the growing trend that people’s genitals are being stolen and advised they report any case to any nearby police station for investigations rather than take laws into their hands.

Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, says the ministry is strategic to governance and, stressed the need for a partnership between the Police and ministry of Information towards ensuring that goals and interests of the people of Abia are met.

He added that the collaboration is pertinent to ensure that information is deployed in line with Governor Alex Otti’s vision.

The commissioner of police also expressed worry at the rate of fake news especially with viral reports on missing genitals and asked residents to be wary of such fake news.
