Kwara Universities collaborate for improved service delivery

The consortium of the 8 Universities in Kwara state is asking for proper funding of the university system to achieve common goals and objectives.

At its maiden international conference, members also expressed readiness to collaborate for advancement of teaching and research.

There are eight Universities in Kwara state, 2 government owned and 6 privately owned institutions.

In this era of globalisation, these Universities have active collaborations with foreign universities at the detriment of their local neighbours.

The need to bridge this gap necessitated the establishment of the Consortium of 8 Universities in Kwara state in January this year and this is their maiden conference.

With the theme: “Transforming University Education in the 21st Century: The Role of Stakeholders”, the conference seeks to stimulate ideas on how best the Nigerian University system can be improved upon.

Apart from impacting knowledge, the university is also expected to carry out research and contribute to the development of its host community.

The consortium is not unmindful of this and the need to do more for the host communities.

The theme song of the Consortium of 8 Universities in Kwara state captures its essence of establishment – “together we stand…”
