Gov Sule lays foundation for establishment of LNG, LCNG in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa state Governor Abdullahi Sule has laid the foundation for the establishment of a Liquefied Natural Gas(LNG) and Liquefied Compressed Natural Gas(LCNG) facility in Shabu, a suburb of Lafia,the Nasarawa state capital.

The Two million US Dollar investment which is spearheaded by Greenville LNG is the first of its kind in the North Central region of the country.

Nigeria is blessed with abundance of Natural Gas which includes the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

Statistics by EIA in 2020 showed that the country had an estimated 200.4 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of proven natural gas reserves, the largest in Africa.

Despite being ignored for crude oil production, government attention is now focused towards tapping the resources in the sector.

It is for this reason that the Nasarawa State Government laid the foundation for the first LNG and CNG facility in Lafia.

The project which is in partnership with Greenville LNG, has the capacity to produce 23 metric tones of LNG and 1,500 Supply Chain Management of LCNG.

The aim is to promote virtual gas supply for businesses and individuals in order to achieve clean energy.

Management of Greenville LNG are optimistic that the project will further crystalize the industrialization drive of the governor and they give assurances they will deliver on the project.

Locals of Shabu community expressed their readiness to support the government and its partners to see to the success of the project.

The project when completed, will provide an alternative for fuel and usher in the use of LNG and LCNG for heavy-duty trucks, small vehicles, tricycles and generators.
