The House of Representatives said the presidency need to follow due process, in obtaining $1bn (one billion dollars) from Nigeria’s Excess Crude Account, to fight insurgency.
Spokesman of the House, Abdulrasak Namdas, said the National Assembly didn’t receive any notice, nor had it given any approval for the arms fund.
According to him, the normal practice is that any amount to be withdrawn from the Federation Account must be approved by the National Assembly.
He hopes the issue will be brought before the house because until they approve, no single amount can be taken from that account.
