British Prime Minister, Theresa May will appoint a new Conservative Party chairman, when she reshuffles her top team.
Sir Patrick McLoughlin, a minister as far back as the Thatcher government, could be replaced having overseen the general election campaign that ended with the Tories losing their majority.
Several new faces are to be appointed to the ministerial lineup, but Philip Hammond, Boris Johnson, Amber Rudd and David Davis are among key figures likely to stay in place.
Meanwhile, Britain’s Northern Ireland Minister, James Brokenshire, has resigned ahead of a planned cabinet reshuffle.
He cited the need to prioritise long-term health as he is due to undergo major lung surgery within weeks.
His resignation comes after British Minister Theresa May undertook a reshuffle of her top team to reassert her authority after losing her parliamentary majority, in the election.
Brokenshire’s time in Northern Ireland has been marked by the collapse of the power-sharing executive at Stormont and the row over the future of the Irish border after Brexit.
May praised him for his great diligence, determination and good humor.
