Senators from Northern Nigeria have resolved to forge a common front for the region’s growth and change the narration that North contributes little or nothing to the national income of the country.They disclosed in Katsina state at the opening of a two day retreat.
Tesem Akende reports that the gathering according to the senators, is an attempt to right the wrongs, and give the region a better name. And also invited to grace the day were two governors, and the Sultan of Sokoto, Dr. Sa’ad Abubakar. The trio were blunt, noting that the region’s problems are not new, just as the way but working the talk according to them has remained the challenge.
It was speculated that bringing the meeting to Katsina as opposed to Kaduna, the region’s political capital has an undertone, but the senators said there is nothing to it.
