Plateau attack : Riyom community leaders allege death threats by herdsmen

Image result for Plateau attack : Riyom community leaders allege death threats by herdsmenCommunity leaders in Riyom Local Goverment Area of Plateau state are calling on government to come to their aid following alleged death threats by Fulani herdsmen over land ownership in the locality.

The revelation was made by the leaders of the community following last Tuesday’s suspected Fulani herdsmen attack that led to the deaths of 9 people with others badly injured.

The community leaders claim that Fulani herdsmen in the locality who only came as temporary settlers have forcefully pushed out natives from their ancestral environment and threatened to attack and kill any native that comes close to the area.

Heads of various communities Riyom are now appealing to state and Federal government to come to their aid before the situation gets worse.

Meanwhile, the special task force, codenamed Operation Safe Haven deployed to restore peace in the state have debunked rumours circulating that the attack was carried out by some of its Operatives.

The STF spokesperson, Captain Adamu Umar in a chat with Journalists at the command headquarters in Jos debunked the accusation.

According to the media officer, the Special Task force has been arresting criminals with military uniforms which might be the same case.

He confirmed that fighter jets for surveillance have been deployed to Riyom Barkin Ladi communities to help in combating the activities of criminals.
