Presidents Faure Gnassingbe and Alpha Conde are in Liberia to avert a political standoff after the Supreme Court put the second round of voting on hold citing allegations too its conduct.
Both presidents say they are acting in a mediatory role.
President Conde is in the team in his capacity as Chairman of the African Union, while Faure, who himself is facing a revolt in his country, is participating as leader of the regional political bloc of heads of state, ECOWAS.
The November 7th presidential run-off looks increasingly unlikely after the country’s top court halted the polls until it considers a challenge to first round results.
Third-place finisher Charles Brumskine’s Liberty Party contested the results of last month’s vote, which set up the run-off between former soccer star George Weah and Vice President Joseph Boakai.
