UBTH: Benin records a monkeypox case

Report has it that, the university of Benin teaching hospital has recorded a suspected Monkey Pox patient on

admittion in the hospital. Samples have been taken for test and result is being awaited from the designated World Health Organization (WHO) accredited test center. The Chief Medical Director, CMD, Prof. Darlinton Obaseki, had equipped an isolated complex created to give urgent treatment to patients having Monkey Pox. Monkey-pox disease can be said to be a declaration,  Public Relations head, of the hospital, Mr Uwaila Joshua, who confirmed the acknowledgment  of the Monkey Pox patient in the hospital, said  the patient is responding to treatment and is undergoing further evaluations.

According to the statement: ¨The good news is that the patient is recovering very fast and we presently do not have any reason to worry.¨UBTH,  with the  help of significant managements, the benin state government and local government health authorities, are pulling efforts together and supervising the patients  closely , no one has come down with the sickness. ¨There is no need or cause for concern or worry and no danger posed to staff or patients of the hospital. The patients are in  quarantine place.

As at now, there is no reason to be afraid. The number of patients reported to be receiving treatment for the communicable monkey pox, which broke out in Yenagoa,  has risen from 11 to 13, newsmen report. October 6, 2017 NCDC confirms 12 suspected Monkey Pox cases in Bayelsa October 6, 2017. However, in a statement, the Head, Public Relations, of the hospital, Mr Uwaila Joshua, who confirmed the admission of the Monkey Pox patient in the hospital, said the patient is responding to treatment and is undergoing further evaluations. According to the statement:¨The good news is that the patient is recovering very fast and we presently do not have any reason to worry.
