ITF artners German firm to bridge unemployment gap in Nigeria

The Federal Government has again expressed its commitment to working with development partners to deepen the quality of skills and apprenticeship given to the youths im order to create more job opportunities.

Minister of state, Industry, Trade and Investment, Mariam Katagum disclosed this when the Director General, Industrial Training Fund, led a delegation from a German company, Rhode and Schwartz to her office in Abuja.

She says the partnership with the German company will help to bridge the huge unemployment gap in the country.

The Industrial training fund is to set, regulate training standards and provide human capital development intervention using a crop of highly competent professionals.

The scheme over the years has carried out this mandate and has helped several youths acquire skills to become employers of labour.

With the transition to the era of technology there is need for the scheme to upgrade its skills acquisition methods in order to drive the nation’s economic growth by creating jobs.

It is partnering with this German company to boost its Model Skills Training Centre, established to develop skills acquisition and apprenticeship in Nigeria.

The minister believes that the nation’s existing bilateral relations with the German government will be trinforced by this partnership on technical, apprenticeship and skills development.

The representative of the German Company, said ITF was considered for partnership following its regards for standards.

Earlier, the ITF, Director General and his management team took their guests on a facility tour of its Model Skills Training Centre in Abuja.
