As Muslims begin the new year Islamic year of 1439, religious faithful and entire Nigerians have been urged to shun social vices that can tarnish the image of the religion.
This was the submission of Governor Rauf Aregbesola and other Islamic scholars at the grand finale of activities lined up to mark Hijrah 1439 celebration in Osun state.
They warned against kidnapping, ritual killings and enjoined Muslims to emulate the teachings of prophet Muhammed embedded in the history of Hijrah.
The scholars also appealed to political leaders to uphold fairness, equity and social justice in the system.
The event which was held at Osogbo city stadium witnessed prayers from different Islamic societies and march past by students from different schools across the state.
The theme for the celebration is “Kidnapping and Ritual killings in Nigeria; Islamic Perspective.
