Fifty survivors have been dug out from the rubble by rescuers in Mexico City.
President Enrique Pena Nieto said as of Wednesday night, the death toll had climbed to 233, while in Mexico City alone it was 102.
The rescue work is in full swing now, though might get hampered by continuous rains expected over the next few days.
95 percent power supply has been restored but authorities say it will still take a while to restore the whole system.
While the city’s traffic conditions remain bad, residents volunteering to help have made the situation even worse.
The government has called on its people to not go to the affected areas and make way for the rescuers to carry out their work.
