RWANDA, UN COMMEMORATE 29TH GENOCIDE ANNIVERSARY IN ABUJA

The Rwandan High Commission in Abuja in collaboration with the United Nations is holding the 29th commemoration of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi

They have been joined by the Nigerian Government and other members of the international community

1994 remains indelible in the minds of Rwandans, East Afric and the world at large

It was the year propaganda and hate speech got to its peak causing one of the deadliest genocide the world ever recorded where about 1 million people, that’s about 70 percent of a particular tribe were wiped out

As Rwanda remembers this unpalatable expereince, they also understand healing is important

As they commemorate this day, they appeal to the International community concerning suspected genocide Perpetrators still at large in different countries around the world to be repatriated to Rwanda where they will stand trial and brought to justice.

 

ARMED HERDSMEN KILL 46 IN BENUE

 

Several persons have been killed in a deadly attack launched on the Umogidi community of Entekpa Adoka district in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State by suspected killer herdsmen.

The ugly incident which occurred on Wednesday led to the death of 46 persons, including a son of the Otukpo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Bako Eje.

Lt Col. Paul Hemba (retd.), Special Adviser to Governor Samuel Ortom on Security confirmed the development.

He said, though the 46 corpses have been recovered, casualty figures may likely rise due to life-threatening injuries sustained by scores of residents during the attack.

He said, “I can confirm to you that there was an attack in Umogidi and as of this morning, the casualty figure, from those who were seen physically from what I was told, was 46. But the figure may be higher because some people are still reported missing.”

The fresh attack came a day after the daredevil terrorists invaded the community and killed three persons on Tuesday.

Prior to that incident, the assailants also attacked the Igbobi community in the neighbouring Apa Local Government Area of the state on Monday.
