Image result for Super Eagles eye world cup ticket in YaoundeNigeria could become the first African team to earn a slot in Russia if they defeat Cameroon in Yaounde today’s world cup qualifier and Zambia fail to beat Algeria in Blida on Tuesday.

The team arrived Yaounde on Sunday afternoon for today’s clash and had their first training yesterday evening.

Nigeria achieved its highest win ever over Cameroon with the 4-nil thumping of the Lions on Friday, to maintain their flawless run of 3 matches in the Pool .

The victory puts Nigeria 7 points clear of the struggling Indomitable Lions after 3 games in Group B.

Zambia are 2nd with 4 points after their 3-1 victory on Saturday over Algeria, who have only 1 point.

The game will kick off at 6pm Nigerian time.

Meanwhile, Odion Ighalo is a doubt for Nigeria as the Super Eagles prepare to face Cameroon in the return leg of their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier, just 3 days after walloping the Indomitable Lions 4-NIL in Uyo.

Ighalo, hobbled off late in the second half of Friday’s match with hamstring trouble, and although he trained with the rest of the squad on arrival in Yaoundé on Sunday afternoon, coach Gernot Rohr says he will have to pass a late fitness test to be selected.

Pride may now be all that is left to play for by the Indomitable Lions after their coach Hugo Broos conceded defeat in the race to qualify for Russia 2018.
